Georgina Rodríguez Is The Face Of Guess And Marciano Fall 2023

Guess has just announced the face of its fall advertising campaign: Georgina Rodríguez. The Spanish-Argentine TV star, model and influencer was photographed by Nima Benati, who shot inside Madrid's Santo Mauro Hotel, a famously regal location dating back to the 19th century. 'We wanted to capture a day in the life of Georgina, going behind the veil to catch a glimpse into this superstar’s life of glamour,' says Paul Marciano, chief creative officer for Guess. 'I love the brand and the values it represents,' says Georgina. 'I love wearing the collections because they make me feel empowered yet sexy. They have a distinct feminine character while expressing a timeless essence.'

Gabrielle Chanel, the legendary founder of the eponymous fashion house, was a famous fan of Scotland. So you can't help but think she would be pleased at the news that the brand is opening a new 'ephemeral' boutique in Edinburgh, which will be in situ from now until 5 August. Set over 5,232 sq ft in a 19th century neoclassical townhouse, 8 Charlotte Square, the temporary space will play host to a ready-to-wear salon, a dedicated handbag room, a watches and fine jewellery showcase and, last but not least, Chanel's Métiers d'art collection, which made its catwalk debut in Dakar, Senegal, at the end of last year.

Sharing Is Caring: The Fashion-Approved Hotspots You Need To Know

Every wondered where fashion's elite like to eat, drink and shop? Well, thanks to the Little Blue Book of Sharing, you need wonder no longer. To celebrate 10 years of the brilliant American Express campaign ‘Shop Small’, which aims to support small businesses, AmEx asked five of their Shop Small Ambassadors for their top insider tips on their favourite places they just couldn't live without.

Among them? Supermodel Adwoa Aboah and designer-of-the-moment Nensi Dojaka, the LVMH Prize winner who has captivated fashion with her sensuous, barely-there dresses and sexy take on tailoring.

Adwoa Aboah

For Aboah, West London is much more than just where she grew up. 'Community is the backbone of every aspect of my career,' she says, citing the deli where she buys her morning coffee every day and her local vintage store as two of her most beloved places.

For Dojaka, herself the owner of a relatively new and growing business, she has found incredible support and encouragement from some of the small businesses she names as her favourites. Interestingly, she chooses Rellik, the same vintage store as Aboah. A supermodel and an in-demand designer telling us that's the place to shop in London? You can hardly ignore that advice.

Louis Vuitton has scored big on social media. The luxury French maison has called on the talents of two of the world’s greatest footballers – Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi – for its new campaign which has become the most organically liked Instagram post ever. In a shoot by Annie Leibowitz, the players take their legendary rivalry off the pitch and onto a Vuitton Damier attaché case, atop of which they play a game of chess. An Easter egg: Vuitton consulted with Bruce Pandolfini, the expert consultant on The Queen’s Gambit, so that neither Ronaldo nor Messi could win the game they are mid-way through playing.

The End Of An Era: Alessandro Michele Has Departed Gucci

Alessandro Michele has departed Gucci, after seven years as creative director and over two decades at the house. During his tenure Michele presided over a cultural shift in fashion, leading the genderless clothing revolution and spearheading creative collaborations, like the Balenciaga ‘Hacker’ project. His eclectic, poetic sensibility wooed a new generation of Gucci fans, with hits like his furry loafers quickly going viral, as well as the A-list (Lady Gaga, Jodie Turner Smith, Jared Leto and Harry Styles – who recently released his Ha Ha Ha collaboration with the house – among the most loyal acolytes). ‘May you always live by your passions, propelled by the wind of freedom,’ said Michele in his departure statement. Just one question: what on earth will Styles wear now?

A Stylish Move: Vestiaire Collective Has Banned Fast Fashion

Resale site Vestiaire Collective is already fashion insiders’ go-to for shopping pre-loved pieces. If the thought of snapping up a Saint Laurent bag, Celine boots or some Tom Ford-era Gucci wasn’t enough to woo you already, now there’s an even better reason: as of Black Friday 2022 the site has banned fast fashion brands. Following a trip hosted by The Or Foundation to Kantamanto in Ghana – the largest recycling and reuse hub in the world – Vestiaire felt inspired to take immediate and radical action. And as for the fast fashion pieces its member already own? Vestiaire has committed to finding and promoting practical solutions including championing recycling, repairing and constructive donation strategies.

Riccardo Tisci was rumoured to be exiting Burberry - and, this morning, the brand confirmed it had hired a new chief creative officer: Daniel Lee. Last seen making (serious) waves at Bottega Veneta - where he harnessed the brand's signature technique, its intreccio leather, to produce too many cult accessories to name - Lee, who was born in Bradford, will commence his role next week. 'I am honoured to join Burberry as Chief Creative Officer. Together with the team, we will write the exciting next chapter for this legendary British luxury brand, continuing its historic heritage and building on Riccardo’s legacy. I am very excited to be returning to London, a city that champions pioneering creativity and that continues to inspire me.' His inaugural collection will be presented at the next London Fashion Week. Until then, editors will just have to imagine what magic he'll work with that check. Stay tuned.

Harris Reed Is Nina Ricci's New Creative Director

It's been a busy couple of years for Harris Reed - designing gowns for the Met Gala, lighting up London Fashion Week - but it's about to get even more hectic. The designer has just been announced as the creative director of Nina Ricci. 'To be a 6’4” (without heels), red-headed, long haired fluid designer (who everyone thinks is a fabulous woman) who is unapologetically myself entering a brand I could have only ever dreamed of in Paris just leaves me full of excitement and love.'

Kendall Jenner Is The New Face Of Jimmy Choo's Autumn Campaign

She's been styled in a satin corset, but feel free to take your favourite boots for a spin with a trench coat, a leather skirt or a knitted dress now that it's September.

Of Course Kim Kardashian Is The Star of Balenciaga's New Campaign

Balenciaga

Demna’s AW22 Balenciaga collection – where models trudged across a wind and snow-swept tundra – was one of the most talked about shows of the season. Now he has scooped brand loyalist Kim Kardashian (who else?) – who also walked in July’s couture show, alongside the likes of Christine Quinn and Nicole Kidman – to star in the collection’s campaign, shot by Berlin-based photographer Daniel Koché.

Your Favourite Scandi High-Street Brand, Arket, Celebrates 5 Years

Arket

To celebrate its fifth anniversary, Arket is celebrating in suitably chic style with the release of its new Archetypes 2017 – 2022 capsule. Reissuing and reinterpreting some of its hero designs from the archive, including the crew neck tees and denim everyone seems to have in their wardrobe.

The CÎROC Iconic Ball Celebrates 50 Years Of UK Pride

Half of century of UK Pride. A moment that calls for serious celebration, which is exactly what happened last night at legendary club, KOKO. The occasion was the inaugural CÎROC Iconic Ball, where queer creativity, joy and unity took centre stage as five 'Houses' - a group of people who compete at balls and are presided over by a 'Mother' - battled it out, honouring key moments in LGBTQ+ history. Hosted by Jack Mizrahi, House Ballroom legend, and attended by leading lights such as Mel C, Jade Thirlwall, Jourdan Dunn, Julien McDonald, Pam Hogg and Charles Jeffrey, the event supported Not A Phase, a charity that works to create safe and affirming spaces for trans+ and gender-non-conforming (TGNC) communities nationwide.

The British Fashion Council Releases New Critical Report Analysing Diversity & Inclusion In The Fashion Industry

The British Fashion Council's report in partnership with the MBS Group, which is the first step in addressing the lack of data on diversity and inclusion (D&I) in the fashion industry, found that fashion businesses are not adequately prioritising D&I. In fact, only 51% have coordinated strategies for D&I. The industry's leadership also continues to be dominated by men and white leaders (at Board, executive committee and direct report level, the proportion of women sits at below 40%, while leaders from an ethnic minority background make up 9%, 7% and 5% of the leadership population respectively). The research, which also delves into how organisations (such as Burberry, Ganni, Lululemon, PVH Europe and Tilting the Lens) are moving the dial in terms of D&I, shows the need for urgent change. It's been quite a month for Saul Nash. Not only did the designer and choreographer, who frequently collaborates with partner FX Goby, scoop the prestigious International Woolmark Prize - but yesterday he was announced as the winner of the Queen Elizabeth II Award for British Design. Nash consistently delivers one of the most interesting and thoughtful shows at London Fashion Week - his latest was set against the backdrop of Gee's Barbers, a barber's shop in Kensal Rise, and explored the spirituality and folklore that binds communities together - and has been recognised as much for his innovative take on sportswear as his sustainable approach to materials.
