YANGON, April 30 (Xinhua) -- Traffic accidents have killed 453 people and injured 1,265 others in 856 traffic accidents in Myanmar in the first three months of 2025, according to the Road Transport Administration Department on Wednesday.
This marked a decrease in fatalities and injuries compared to the same period in 2024, which saw 585 deaths and 1,556 injuries, the department said.
Yangon region reported the highest number of fatalities in road accidents in the cited period, with 88 deaths, followed by Mandalay region with 67, and Ayeyarwady region with 57, it said.
A total of 2,011 people were killed and 5,576 others injured in road accidents across the country in 2024, official data showed. ■
