Renowned Chinese architect, designer and artist Chi Wing Lo portrays a sense of fulfilment through his unique works displayed at the "Aura" exhibition at Serindia Gallery until Feb 28.

This is the Bangkok debut showcase by the Hong Kong recipient of the World's Outstanding Chinese Designer Award 2015. Lo has long been recognised, within and beyond the eminent circle of contemporary Italian design, for his evocativeness in thought, gracefulness in form and meticulousness in every detail.

On show are over 100 pieces of tabletop objects -- many of them writing instruments and objects for contemplation -- made from ink stones, stalagmite, wood and silver that encompass the fields of architecture, sculpture, interior, furniture and object design.

They are not merely stone or metal but personalised with a distinct character and emanate an aura. They reflect his vision as an architect, his inventiveness as a designer and his poetry as a sculptor. Infusing poetry with usefulness, his design works are inspired by materials and techniques that have been passed to new generations, and his objects provide insights into art-making and reveal how he would arrest unexplored potential that could open up new possibilities and ideas.

Lo earned a master's degree in architecture from Harvard University, being awarded the best thesis prize in 1988. He has taught at Syracuse University in New York, serves as a visiting professor at universities and is a frequent speaker at design events. He has integrated art, architecture, interior design and furniture design for exclusive projects in Milan, Athens, London, Istanbul, Dubai, Shanghai, Beijing and Shenzhen.

Serindia Gallery is located at OP Garden 4, Charoen Krung 36, and is open Tuesday to Sunday, 11am-7pm.
